Project in brief
The quality of drinking water in The Netherlands is good, and meets all legal requirements. Nonetheless, the water quality is not always as perfect as the water supply companies strive towards. For example, the length of time that water stays in the distribution network can lead to occasional legionella, discoloured water, or bacterial growth. We are carrying out research into which measures can prevent this type of incident in future, so that the quality of drinking water immediately after production can also be guaranteed at the tap. To do so, we use a so-called total system approach. An approach set up to ensure that the total design for drinking water supply is so robust that the quality of drinking water quality can be guaranteed under all circumstances. In practice, this means that we are striving for greater barriers for all relevant contamination.

Communication
Recenty the Delft Cluster magazine is published at the KVWN congress at may 28. This special edition describes recent developments in drinking water research. A number of key persons also present their views on – and the outcomes of – this research. The magazine provides information which can lead to improved drinking water supply and the cross-fertilisation of ideas that will advance research into wastewater treatment. You can download the magazine here

AIO’s
During the course of this research project, articles are published in international scientific journals, and the results are presented at national and international congresses and are published in their proceedings. The end result is presented as a dissertation.
